Swine flu

I wonder if the lurg I've been surviving through for over a week might be swine flu. Runny nose. Gluggy chest. I came down with it two days after going to a Mexican restaurant in Melbourne. At this point, I'm only half joking.

:-(

If you were going to be exposed to anything Mexican, it might be most likely there. Very unlikely, of course....but who knows?

[29/4/09 - UPDATE: The Swine Flu has apparently landed in my area on Auckland's North Shore. Rangitoto College, where 10 students are deemed to have been infected with swine flu while visiting Mexico, is a 5 minute drive from here. The good news is that none of them were terribly ill and they are shocked to find they have it. No panic required.

As for my own present illness, swine flu was extraordinarily unlikely and now even the tiniest morsel of doubt has been eradicated. No way do I have the Swine Flu. No temperature spike or nausea or vomiting. Just the usual aches, pains, runny nose and crusty chest and worse than usual. This is yer bog standard, no-frills influenza bug....and after 10 days it feels like it's finally departing. I'm a big baby about this stuff as I rarely ever get sick with anything. I've vomited once in the past 31 years.

  2. Con: The restaurant was "Amigos" in Lygon St. The food is excellent. :-)

I wasn't really serious, but at the same time I know bugs can spread for weeks before anyone notices or the body count is high enough to attract attention.
