Paul Henry and "Breakfast" on TVNZ

I've just caught up with the grossly inappropriate comments Paul Henry made about Greenpeace's Stephanie Mills. What a complete and utter tosser he is. Why TVNZ have stuck with him so long is a mystery to me. His presence on their programming schedule reflects very badly on them.

'Media 7' host, Russell Brown, gave Paul Henry a 5 out of 5 on the "Dick-o-meter". A fair score. Just as interesting is the support for Henry from other arrogant, self-obsessed, insensitive men out there. They love him, of course and will until he talks about them personally. Then, they would be outraged.

I used to sit and watch Breakfast on TVNZ most mornings a few years back. It was part of a weekday morning routine that saw me ferry a daughter to school and visit an elderly relative for a cup of tea. Part of the routine was watching the last half hour or so of Paul Henry on TVNZ's 'Breakfast'.

I quickly grew to dislike the man. Arrogant, self-obsessed, insensitive to more or less everyone. For me, unwatchable television. I owned kune kune pigs at the time and they were much more polite than Paul Henry.

On the day I decided I couldn't stand to see him on-screen again, I sent TVNZ an email and promised them I would not willingly watch any TV program they presented that he was part of and after 3 years I've kept that promise. I've just sent TVNZ another email.

  1. This man is nothing but arrogant, self-obsessed and stupid. He is also ill-informed and not only rude to the viewers, but also to so many of his colleagues. Can we ever get rid of him?

  4. Paul Henry screamed "THIS IS A RED ALERT" when commenting on the Tsunami warning
Just the way to create panic and gain attention to him.
    A complete idiot

  5. well he is a delight compared to Oliver Drivel Driver on Sunrise. I am a real TV3 fan, love the team on Sunrise apart from Oliver. I have just given up watching and switched to Breakfast. I miss the antics of the Sunrise crew but the programme is unwatchable due to the sneering, childish antics of Driver. He is ignorant beyond belief when it comes to issues of the day. Uncouth, ill mannered yet his whole demeanour is that he thinks himself better than everyone else on the team and every he interviews. I am no paul henry fan however, he is polite, professional, well informed and not afraid to speak him mind.

  6. Anon 08/10/09: I don't watch any TV in the morning. No time for it. I don't like Henry...I know that much...and if I did have the time, it would be Sunrise or nothing at all....depending on which was the best use of my time. TV tops the list rarely by that measure.

  7. Nah sorry jump up and down all you want it's nowhere near as bad as what you people are making it. It's part of his TV persona and if you really did give over and watched or listened there is a very serious side to this man but as usual anything that gets the yahoos going makes it hard to find reason among all of the protest and offense. I dread the sort of boring drab half asleep world you guys want the majority of us to live in. Paul is there for as long as he wants because alot of people tune in including you lot taking notes LMFAO.

  8. Anon 9:57: We obviously have very different ideas about respect and manners....particularly as they relate to people presenting TV programs. My world isn't drab or boring because I'm not being an asshole to someone. I'm surprised you think this is required.
