Some have said that MMP gives disproportionate power to small parties.
Can one of them please explain how a handful of MPs (4? 5?) can out-vote the other 115-odd?

ReplyDeleteTo bring down a government, the government have to lose a confidence vote.
Losing a confidence vote means 61 out of 120 MPs don't support you......not 5.
Again....How can 5 MPs outvote the other 115 odd?
People who talk about "disproportionate power" are forgeting the role of the otehr 40,50 or 60 Mps who ALSO agree with the "minor" party....
In short, they can't count (and don't want to).
