It was a busy weekend, but I managed to wade through Part I of the Herald's two-part family history of National Party leader, John Key.
He's clearly an ambitious guy and from early on, too. At age 10 he decided he wanted to be Prime Minister. Later, at Uni, he dropped economics because most people sitting on company boards were accountants. The deals. The money. The calm, capable leader.
But what I have no real sense of so far is why?
Why does John Key want to be Prime Minister? What does he want to do for all New Zealanders? Why is he the guy to do it?
Maybe we'll find out in Part II. Failing that, it would be nice to know before the election. With any luck, John Key will tell us himself.
