Reality in Zimbabwe

"We can't ask the people to cast their vote… when that vote will cost their lives."

With those words, Morgan Tsvangirai withdrew from the final round of Presidential elections to be held on June 27th. Mr. Tsvangirai is leader of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) in Zimbabwe and is widely regarded as having won the first round of elections in May only to have it stolen by corrupt election practices

The decision to withdraw came amid a wave of government-backed violence against opposition supporters as well as police harrassment of the candidate himself effectively preventing him from campaigning.

Incumbent, President Robert Mugabe, and the other lawless thugs running Zimbabwe will come to regret this day.
